Solis inverter troubleshooting

This article covers common issues encountered during and after Solis inverter installations. Each issue includes likely causes and resolution steps. Problems are often inter-related — work through each cause systematically before escalating.

Battery communication failure (batt_comm_fail)

What it means: The Solis inverter cannot communicate with the battery over the CAN bus. This error appears in the Solis Cloud app as batt_comm_fail.

Likely causes and resolution steps:

  • Incorrect battery model set in the inverter

  • Incorrect inverter model set in the HV box

  • Battery error

  • Faulty CAN cable between HV box and inverter

No communication between KF1 and Solis inverter

What it means: The KF1 controller cannot communicate with the Solis inverter. This prevents remote control and monitoring of the inverter from the KanEL system.

Likely causes and resolution steps:

  • Old inverter firmware

  • Faulty or incorrectly specified cable between KF1 and inverter
